    Augustana Cross Country Tallies 11 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes – Augustana University Athletics

    NEW ORLEANS — Following their prolific performance this fall, the Augustana cross country squad saw 11 student-athletes named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team and individual honors announced on Jan. 26. Both programs were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic teams as well as 11 individuals being selected as All-Academic student athletes.

    In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

    The women’s team collected six all-academic athletes in Ella Bakken (Biology), Patty Jo English (History/Pre-Law), Mia Salas (Exercise Science), Nicolette Schmidt (Masters of Education), Caroline Sudbeck (English) and Iris Velting (Masters of Sports Administration and Leadership).

    As a team, the women compiled a 3.727 GPA, which stands eighteenth-best in the nation.

    The men’s team garnered five all-academic selections in colten brand (Exercise Science), Eric Gundersen (Business Administration), ryan hartman (Exercise Science), henry klitzke (Masters of Business Administration) and Matt Steiger (Masters of Professional Accountancy).

    The men’s team compiled a team GPA of 3.597, ranking ninth in all of Division II.

    The Augustana cross country team recently finished another very impressive season under Director of Track & Field, Tracey Hellman, The women’s team placed fifth at the national meet with two All-Americans while the men finished seventh overall having one All-American.
