Holi is a festival celebrated in India. It typically falls in March or April and is a celebration of the beginning of spring, the victory of good over evil and the arrival of plentiful harvests. People traditionally throw colored powder and water at each other and enjoy festive foods such as gujiya and thandai.

The festival of colors is just around the corner. We are sure you all must be all set to enjoy the festival with lots of excitement and enthusiasm. Applying Holi colors itself means rough, scaly and dead hair. It often leads to split ends and breakage. Before Holi, our hair demands extra personal care to remain soft, bouncy and healthy. It becomes imperative to defend your tresses from harmful market colors.

Nandita Chhabra, Sr Manager-Marketing & Communications, Maison D’Auraine has jotted down a few tips & tricks that will surely help you in getting rid of those unwanted harmful colours. Let’s have a look at the hair care tips to keep your hair in great shape.
    Tips before playing Holi

Oil your hair properly before you step out to play with colours. A good and relaxing head massage stimulates the scalp and it creates a protective layer. Dry hair often leads to absorbing more colors. One can go for regular coconut oil or Almond Oil to coat every hair strand to protect your hair properly.

Tie your hair properly. Yes, it’s the most crucial step before playing with colours. Always cover your hair and tie it properly as it will prevent your hair from exposure to colours.

Tips to remove the harsh Holi colors from the hair

    – First rinse/wash your hair with just cold water as it will take off the upper layers of colors and it will make your cleaning process easy. Once you wash off the upper layer, apply your favorite shampoo and conditioner and rinse it off. Follow this process thrice for color free hair.

    – After shampooing and conditioning, comb your hair once it gets dry so that any left out particle will be removed.

    – The next step is to apply a good quality coconut oil as it will keep scalp away from any infection caused by harmful chemical colours.

Caring for your hair is not a one-time thing after Holi. This caring regime has to be a regular one. You must continue this for at least 2 weeks post-Holi to get healthy and lustrous hair.
