Says a source close to the development, “The trailer itself told audiences what they are in for. What followed in terms of publicity and promotion can only consolidate the impact of the trailer.”
Gimmicky marketing won’t be applicable to Selfiee either. “No free tickets, and please, no selfies for fans, no false promises, the film will run on its own steam,” states a source close to the film. Though Akshay Kumar did set a Guinness World Record yesterday of clicking the maximum number of selfies in 3 minutes. He managed a staggering 184 with fans at an event.
Akshay Kumar is not in competition with Emraan Hashmi though. Selfiee is Akshay’s first non-solo film since Housefull 4 and Good Newwz in 2019 and his second film with director Raj Mehta after Good Newwz.
One thing is for sure. If Akshay Kumar works any more with this director, his spelling abilities will suffer badly. Incidentally, Selfiee has been passed by the Central Board Of Film Certification with no cuts.
Says producer Karan Johar, “It’s a film to be enjoyed by the entire family. I think that’s our USP.”
